Owen left Dowra in County Cavan in 1900 at age 18. He traveled to Liverpool where he took passage on the RMS Saxonia. The ship departed Liverpool on May 22nd and took 10 days to make the passage and arrived in Boston on May 31st 1900. Owen traveled with just $2 in his pockets in third class.
On the Passenger manifest it listed that his fare was paid for by his brother and he was going to visit his brother Philip at 54 Lincoln St Brighton


He was Naturalized on May 31st 1907. He and his wife Mary McGovern were living on Riverdale St and by 1920 were living on North Beacon St.
